SAGITTARIUS - YOUR HOLIDAY TRADITIONS

Hey everyone... thanks to you all for writing in with your Holiday traditions! They all sound so wonderful!
Love,
Sagittarius

Katy (13, from Majorca, Spain) writes:
Dear Sag, Heya! I live in Majorca and let me tell you now, that their Christmases are very different than American/British ones! I follow British traditions but my Spanish friends do things differently. They don't eat turkey, they eat beef. They also don't have Santa Claus! They have the 3 Kings instead, who come on January 4th and bring presents.

Amanda (12, from Calgary, Canada) writes:
The way my family celebrates Christmas is that every year we (my sister and I) wake our parents up and then we open stocking presents. After that we open normal presents and we save the presents from Santa Claus for last. Then we eat breakfast and go to my grandmother's house and open presents at her house. And then normally we will have a huge dinner somewhere.

Sara (13, from Naperville, Illinois) writes:
Hey Sagittarius! In my religion, from we have a month of fasting where you can't eat or drink anything from sunrise till sunset called Ramadan. Well when the month of fasting is over, we celebrate by having a holiday called Eid ul-Fitr. In that holiday, my whole family wears new fancy clothes and we go to the mosque to pray. We also use henna leaves to decorate the palms of our hands. Eid is my favorite holiday!

Sarah (10, from Oshawa, Ontario, Canada) writes:
Um.. well, my tradition is not a lot like Christmas but we do get to visit friends. It's called Eid. Eid is where we go around to visit friends and exchange presents. It's really fun. We celebrate it in November and January 2 times. This year I get to actually see my best friend that lives in Newmarket. We haven't seen each other for like last month and 4 months back. I am so excited.

Sierra (13, from Kedah, Malaysia) writes:
Every year for the holidays, my mom and I go to the beauty salon for full beauty treatments. Then my brothers and my dad go for haircuts and order their tuxedos. My mom and I go on shopping sprees buying everything from shoes to bracelets. My dad buys cologne. The reason why we do this is because every year my dad's company holds an annual dinner. He works with the prime minister, and the dinner is always held at the prime minister's house. It is so cool!

Jackie (10, From Gibsonia, Pennsylvania) writes:
For New Year's Eve my family and I go skiing.

Erin (10, from Arkansas) writes:
Every Christmas my family makes peanut butter cookies. Yum!!!

Naomi (11, from Hackensack, New Jersey) writes:
Dear Sagittarius, I would celebrate the holidays by singing with joy, opening presents, and be happy.

Briana (11, from Canada) writes:
I always hang up my decorations on my tree with my family. We also give food to the poor through the church. It's a way of giving back to the community.

Mekana (13, from Canada) writes:
At Thanksgiving, my family goes up the mountains to a place (can't remember the name) and we all have dinner and we horseback ride and have tons of fun with our cousins.

Dominique (12, from Nashville, Tennessee) writes:
What we do during Christmas is we celebrate on Christmas Eve or the Saturday before Christmas. It's really fun because we get to be with our family and we get to eat lots of food.

Renu (12, from Verona, New Jersey) writes:
Hi everyone! What's up? The way my family celebrates Christmas is we have friends and family over for breakfast and then we open all our presents. After that we all go to my cousin's house and spend the day. This what I do Christmas.

Alexa (13, from Pennsylvania) writes:
Over the holidays, my WHOLE Italian family gets together at my aunt and uncle's house to give out gifts, eat, and play "gag gift." I swear it's my favorite time of the WHOLE year. I can never wait for it to come, and when it's over I anticipate next year's celebration!

Klaudia (11, from Greenville, Ohio) writes:
I was born in South Africa, but my family is from Poland (Europe). The way I celebrate my Christmas is I have a big feast with my family on Christmas Eve and pass this communion bread around so everyone breaks off a piece and makes wishes for one another. After that is finished the kids go out and look for the brightest star. This Star in special since it is the one that brings you your presents!!!!

Caryl (11, from North Wales) writes:
Hello, from my family's tradition at Christmas is that my gran and grandad comes round for a Christmas dinner. We wake up about 5am in the morning to open our presents. We also don't go to bed at Christmas night until about 1am! Also at Boxing Day we normally just chill out and watch a new DVD and relax.
