@Gunnu: Haha, yeah. But I really hate when people refer to India as "third world" because not ALL of it is like that. The small town where my mom grew up is now a bustling city, and she says that they're going to bring an airport there in the next few years. Everything is really growing and getting more industrial.

Yeah, it's growing really quickly. :] And a lot! The Commonwealth Games are really helping too -- Delhi looks like Vancouver. The whole "go green" thing is really evident there too. And yes! Thank goodness for all the new airports! We live in Punjab so whenever we go we usually have to go to Delhi and drive six hours to get home. But now there's an airport in Amritsar (unfortunately tickets are more expensive there so we didn't go this time) and they're building one in Mohali too. :] (And that's awesome, because I love Chandigarh and it's only an hour away from home... haha.)

:[ Tell me about expensive tickets. My cousin's getting married this September, and it'll be the first marriage I'll get to see (except for my uncle's, but I was 2 or 3 years old). I really want to go, but we might not just because tickets for four people to go to India are going to be pretty expensive, especially during "the holiday season" in December.

Aw, I really hope you get to go! Tickets do get more expensive then (because no one wants to burn in India during the hot months like we do, lol), but hopefully if you guys look online for cheaper airfare you'll be lucky. :] It usually works for us, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! How long as it been since you last went?

I think it's been about 2 and a half years, so I'm DYING TO GO, but yeah, we're looking online for some good deals. :]

Oh, that's good. :] We usually go every two years but when we were new to Canada we waited three years to go. I was severely depressed.
![]() Weddings are cool... but now I'm getting sick of them. -.- LOL. I have to go to a reception for my dad's friend's daughter tomorrow night and my cousin's wedding in Vancouver in two weeks. We loaded up on wedding clothes in India because of these problems. ![]() |

LUCKY, you've experienced quite a few weddings. The closest I've gotten is Bollywood movies. :] Yeah, whenever we go to India or someone from India comes here, we get PILES and PILES of Indian clothes, which I don't mind because I think they're really pretty. Plus, I actually wear them to dance class and my singing class and stuff. (All that Indian goodness :])

Ahah, yeah.
It gets kind of... not as interesting after a while. We came back surprisingly early from that reception tonight... like, we were in the car ten minutes before midnight. D: It wasn't all that great, but I saw a bunch of other girls who were very, very overdressed with these huge saris and everything. They looked SO good. Next time we go to India, I have to load up on those because my mom and I both have the same size. Yeah, Indian clothes are really nice. :] |

Oooh, yeah, I get what you mean. It's like those really annoying Indian parties, where some random girls always turn up in really sparkly saris, a totally painted face, and the highest heels ever. D:
That's cool, same size? Nice, but I'm shorter than my mom. D: (again) |

Yeah, like that! But the girls I saw were actually related to the people getting married, so it did make sense.
It was my dad's colleague's daughter's wedding... she married a Gujarati boy. There were a million other doctor colleagues there, and they all knew each other but got annoyed at how the Gujaratis couldn't dance "Punjabi style" so they went and formed their own dance floor in the corner of the hall. -.- It was embarrassing, but cool. I'm a little, tiny bit shorter... maybe half an inch... but it's okay. I'll just wear heels and look as tall/taller. xD |
